Bibiniba Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), on Thursday donated Mathematical Sets to all registered 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in Senya Circuit in Awutu Senya District.

Senya Circuit has a total number of 655 registered Candidates for 2021 BECE from 23 Junior High Schools, both public and private schools.

Presentation of the Mathematical Sets was done at Senya AME Zion Church with delegation of five candidates and a teacher from each of the 23 schools.

Presenting the item to the schools, the Executive Director of Bibiniba Foundation, Mr. Benjamin Essien, recounted his experience in 2011 when he sat in for the BECE in Senya Beraku and this motivated the foundation to embark on this generous gesture.

According to him, during his time, only 3 of the candidates from his school, Senya AME Zion (A&B) had mathematical set and it resulted in an awful experience where it was explicitly stated as part of the examination’s rules and regulations that there should be no exchange of items among students.

He said, the donation of Mathematical Sets became necessary looking at the current health dangers associated with sharing of items and body contacts as a result of COVID-19 and examination rules and regulations.

“The basic occupation here in Senya is peasant farming, fishing and fish mongering, and petty trading, parents mostly find it difficult to provide their wards with the needed tools for smooth execution of academic works. Students tend to borrow from their colleagues who have.

Due to this, Bibiniba Foundation deemed it fit to come to the aid of all BECE 2022 candidates in Senya Circuit with this important instrument needed for the examination.”

Receiving the items, on behalf of the heads of schools, Mr. Abraham Ato Arhin, the Head Masters of Senya AME Zion “C” Basic School, expressed their profound appreciation for the wonderful intervention of the NGO.

According to Mr. Arhin, “mathematical sets is one of the great instrument students need when it comes to mathematics. It is very prudent for every basic school student to own a mathematical set and learn how to use it even before their final exams. It is rather unfortunate that most of our students can’t afford this instrument.”
He also stated that this has really come at the right time and will serve a very good purpose.

On behalf of the 2021 BECE Candidates, Miss Miriam Owoo, pupil of Jehovah Shammah School Complex, sent forth their gratitude. “We are very grateful to Bibiniba Foundation, May God bless their work.” She added “It’s not all of us who can afford to buy a math set, personally I don’t have one and I know most of my mates too don’t have it.”

Isaac Amoah, a candidate from Love Life academy, gave Bibiniba Foundation assurance of good performance in appreciation to the mathematical sets they have received.

Notably, this is not the first donation exercise Bibiniba Foundation has embarked on, they donated Mathematical Sets to 460 BECE Candidates in Senya Circuit in 2020.

In his final words, Mr. Benjamin Essien, promised the candidate(s) who will get the best results but must fall within aggregate six to eight, a cash prize of 1000gh.
