The Most Reverend Alfred Agyenta, Catholic Bishop of the Navrongo Bolgatanga Diocese, has charged civil and political leaders to step up supervision of protocols instituted by government to fight the spread of COVID- 19.
He said the protocols, which included the wearing of face mask must be adhered to seriously and admonished civil and political leaders in the Upper East Region to ensure that the protocols were fully enforced to protect lives.
He said the Church was ready to partner government in every endeavour to ensure that the fight against the pandemic was successful.
The Bishop made the call in Bolgatanga after receiving a donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from the Navrongo –Bolgatanga Diocesan Priests Association (NABODPA) towards the fight against the spread of the pandemic in the Region.
He said wearing the face mask had to be adhered to seriously, “Protecting our life is a civil duty and for us as leaders of our congregations, it is our duty to protect life and therefore we should not stand by aloof while people flout these protocols”.
The PPE meant for the Diocesan Health Directorate, included hand sanitizers, Disposable aprons, face masks and shoe covers.
