Twenty-three players of the National Under-20 Women’s team, the Black Princesses will be leaving the shores of Ghana on Wednesday to France to fine-tune preparations ahead the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The Women’s World Cup would be staged in San Jose and Alajuela, Costa Rica from 10-28 August, with 16 teams from six Confederations.

The team had been in camp at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence at Prampram for a period of five weeks and are set to finalize their training against the France U-20 female national team before they embark to Costa Rica for the main tourney.

Head Coach of the side, Ben Fokuo, said the team was ready and prepared to make an impact at the global gathering.

Coach Fokuo commended the players’ zeal and hunger at training sessions and believes the Black Princesses will conquer the World in Costa Rica.

On his part, the international friendly match against France would be a test for the team ahead of the World Cup.

“Everybody is happy and ready for the game against France as it would help strengthen the team. The girls are ready to work hard for the target we have set for ourselves as a team,” he said.

He urged Ghanaians to rally their unflinching support for the Black Princesses to achieve their target of qualifying from a tough group involving holders Japan, USA, and the Netherlands.

The Black Princesses of Ghana over the weekend played their final two matches in Ghana against Ridge City FC and Essiam Socrates, handing the two sides a total of 12 goals to nothing, seven against Ridge City and five against Essiam Socrates.

This would be Ghana’s sixth successive appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
