The renounced Governance and Security Analyst, Dr. Richmond Abbey, has revealed that blockchain has an element of transparency, checks and balances, decentralization, and fairness. This statement was made known at the inaugural launch of the Center for Coin Liberty – a new research center – at the Institute for Liberty & Policy Innovation (ILAPI).

According to Dr. Abbey, the public perception of blockchain technology is preventing the use and integrated blockchain solution in Ghana. Contrary to public opinion in Ghana, blockchain technology can be put to several uses that can transform our society. He added that the world would be a better place with the existence of blockchain technology. Dr. Richmond Abbey revealed his commitment to be an ambassador for the new Center for Coin Liberty at ILAPI and urged that institutes should streamline the use of the technology.

Dr. Richmond Abbey is an Administrator, Security Intelligence Expert, and Political Analyst and holds a General Certificate of Training from Sabrewarch International Security Training Institute, UK, Executive Certificate and Executive Advanced Certificate in Security Intelligence and Forensic Studies from Knustford University College, affiliated to the University of Ghana, He has vast experience in Administration having worked in the Public Service of Ghana as Administrator over a decade.

The inaugural launch took place at the Christ the King Parish Hall on 16th June 2022 in Accra. The event adored the new center to explore blockchain policy research and participatory blockchain technology innovation for adoption in Ghana. The Center for Coin Liberty would use Cardano’s evidence-based methods and research to create constant and continuous public engagement to shape legislation for blockchain adoption.

The event unveiled Nathaniel Dwamena as the Director to manage affairs of the newly established research center, thus the Center for Coin Liberty. Also, prominent individuals added their presence to make the inaugural launch a success. These included Prof. Enoch Antwi, Mr. Selorm Branttie, Global Strategy Director at mPedigree, and Mrs. Afia Asamoa Owusu, Sub Regional Coordination at WADA.

The events partnered with Cardano, Project Catalyst, Kingscel, and WADA as well as about nine (9) media partners including GHOne TV, Power FM, TV XYZ, eTV Ghana, Homebase TV, Class FM, Republic Press, The Finder Newspaper, News Ghana and Rainbow Radio Online.
