Bombande praises NDC, NPP leaders for positive peace signals

Security analyst Emmanuel Bombande has given thumps up to the leaders of the two leading political parties ? the governing National Democratic Congress and the opposition New Patriotic Party for the ?positive peace signals? they are sending to their supporters.

The country appear tensed following reports of attacks and reprisals from the two parties.

Supporters of the New Patriotic Party on Tuesday hit the streets in anger over the election results announced Sunday.

In the process they attacked persons said to supporters of the governing party and journalists.

On Thursday reports were rife about reprisals in the Central Business District of Accra with persons said to be in NDC paraphernalia also going on an attacking spree.

The police have been proactive in all these and have prevented what would have been a blood bath.

But the leaders of the two parties Thursday sent strong warning to their supporters to desist from acts of violence.

NPP chairman Jake Obetsebi Lamptey told Joy News the police must arrest any person who breaks the law, irrespective of his political affiliation.

He said a true NPP supporter will not engage in acts of violence.

His colleague Chairman of the governing NDC Kwabena Adjei also had similar words for his supporters. He told Joy News the supporters must be calm and not engage in any revenge.

Emmanuel Bombande welcomed the peace messages from the leaders.

He told Joy News Editor Samson Lardy Ayenini, the statements coming from both sides are significant for the peace of the country.
