Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister has inaugurated a seven-member sports committee to spearhead the development of sporting disciplines in the region.
Mr. Daniel Charles Gyimah, a retired Banker is the Chair of the Committee which would work in collaboration with the Regional Secretariat of the National Sports Authority (NSA) to promote sporting activities in the region.
Other members of the Committee are Madam Comfort Agyapong Selby, the President of the Bono Athletics Association, Mr. Joe Appiah, Sunyani West Municipal Physical Education (PE) Coordinator, Mr Mends Asare Gyasi, Wenchi Municipal PE Coordinator, Mr Ottis Oppong, Berekum Municipal PE Coordinator, Mr Osei Koranteng, the Bono Regional PE Coordinator and Mr. Foster Kwame Opoku Boakye, the Bono Regional Director, NSA.
At a short inaugural ceremony held in Sunyani, Madam Owusu-Banahene who led the members to swear the oaths of office and secrecy told them the Act 934, 2019, empowered them to promote and develop sports in the region.
The Committee is also to coordinate sporting activities of the District Sports Units in the region with the maintenance and provision of sporting facilities in the region.
Madam Owusu-Banahene therefore urged the Committee to work hard to push the development of sports in the region to the next level.
