The President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier along with Tshenolo Mabeo, Botswana’s Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, launched a partnership that paved way for technical education and training in areas of Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Programmable Logic Controls- PLC and Mechatronics in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana.

The aim of the partnership is to improve the number of skilled labour force in Botswana.

Speaking at the occasion, Steinmeier said Botswana has to diversify the industry through vocational training, to allow it to make a contribution in the economy and address the high level of unemployment among the youth.

For his part, Mabeo said he believes the partnership will propel the country to greater heights in terms of skills development, economic diversification and job creation.

He further noted that introducing the programs will allow Botswana to scale up access to vocational and technical education and training opportunities, in order to avail the necessary skills for the labour market. Enditem
