Botswana’s Prince Marina Hospital private commemorated world kidney Thursday to raise awareness of the risky factors of chronic kidney disease.
The commemoration themed Kidney Health for All encourages systematic screening of all patients with diabetes and hypertension of the disease.
The event was graced by people from different organizations including the former president of Botswana Ketumile Masire.
When making remarks at the opening ceremony, Ketumile Masire said chronic kidney is preventable and controllable, he urged Batswana to keep fit, change their lifestyle and those affected to follow advice given by doctors
He further said keeping with the world standard of care in the management of chronic kidney disease, the Ministry of Health has opened Nephrology Center of Excellence at Princess Marina with a well equipped multidisciplinary team.
Masire encouraged stakeholders to collaborate and empower communities on health issues to curb this illness and by working together, this would add value to nation’s Vision 2016 pillar on health for all by 2016
