The Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) on Wednesday announced plans to launch new products, as part of efforts to prop up performance.

“The BSE offers three products – equity, bonds and exchange traded funds (ETFs),” BSE Chairperson Tebogo Masire said. “Pending on the approval of the global depositary receipts rules, there is a possibility that they may be introduced.”

The initiatives will shield the exchange against subdued equity trading, Masire told the BSE opening bell ceremony in the capital, Gaborone.

The BSE also plans to launch commercial paper market after receiving approval from Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority on the debt trading rule, he said. Enditem
