Buhari asked to give priority to local contractors

President Muhammad Buhari have been called to give priority to local contractors in his government so as to enhance growth and development of indigenous manufacturer and contractors.

Engr. Idowu Lamidi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dollar Construction Company in a congratulatory message to the President said, ?with the current human capital and resources now available to the local contractors, they can favourably compete with their foreign counterpart when it comes to service delivery?.

Idowu, a Registered Civil Engineer and Estate Developer also called for the enactment of a law that will compel government and other companies to give business opportunities to local contractors and suppliers, saying that this will motivate the local contractors in their determination to contribute to the growth of the country?s economy in line with this administration?s focus on economic growth.

Idowu said local contractors have potentials to contribute to the development of the Nigerian economy if given opportunities to supply and undertake challenging jobs in construction and other sectors.

He said local suppliers and contractors are often discriminated against in terms of awarding of some challenging jobs,a situation he said is not in line with Government?s policy of empowering Nigerians and most importantly the new administration?s for economic growth because foreign companies tend to externalise profits to their countries.

Idowu while calling on the President to strive hard to deliver on his electoral promises against all odd said that Nigerians hopes and expectations are high and the President has the pedigree to deliver.

?We wish the president all the best in office and also call on all Nigerians to corporate and support the president in his bid to deliver a new Nigeria of our dream? He added
