The Executive Director of Ghana oil & Gas Services Providers Association (GOGSPA) Mr. Nuetey Adzeman has reminded the membership of the need to constantly upgrade their capacity as the industry was an evolving one.
Adding that almost all the major players in the sector are international which demands a constant capacity building to be able to provide the needed services. These, he explained, will put them in a competitive position.
Only a constant upgrading and capacity building to meet the international level and standards guarantees the jobs and opportunities that the oil service industry offers to them as providers, Mr. Adzeman explained.
He was worried that the biggest challenge GOGSPA was facing is capital, as the industry is capital intensive. And the local banks do not seem to understand the needs of the industry.

Monitoring by the Commission to ensure that all compile with the rules is also positive and yielding the needed results to ensure that expatriates do not take over the jobs reserved for the locals and that the rules are actually the game changer for them. Mr. Adzeman disclosed that the Commission was also supportive in the capacity building of its members. Also the Commission is making sure that there is knowledge transfer to locals from expatriates as well.

Adding that the Commission is well placed to monitor and can tell if company can sole sourced an item to outwit the commission.

He urged them to support GOGSPA in this direction. He noted that the situation was a win-win situation for both the country and IOCs.
