Bulgaria scored 41 points out of 100 in the Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index 2016 and slipped to 75th place in this global ranking, a report said here on Wednesday.
According to the report released by the Bulgarian chapter of Transparency International, the index of Bulgaria was the same as in the previous year, but the ranking dropped six places compared with 2015 due to the progress of other nations.
nd the country ranked the last in 2016 among the European Union (EU) member states, three points lower than Greece, six points from Italy, and seven from Romania and Hungary, the report said.
The average value of the index for the EU was 64.61, it said.
Over the past five years, Bulgaria’s index remained far below the critical value of 50 points, which was an indicator of systemic failure to cope with corruption, the report said. Enditem
