Bulgaria seizes 148,000 smuggled protective masks at border with Turkey

Bulgarian customs inspectors have seized 148,000 smuggled protective masks at the country’s Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint near the border with Turkey, authorities said Monday.

The hoard was found in a truck which was declared to be carrying sportswear, bags and shoes from Turkey to Slovakia, the National Customs Agency said in a statement.

However, a detailed inspection of the vehicle revealed that the truck was also loaded with 31 boxes of smuggled protective face masks, which were later confiscated, the statement said. Enditem
