Burkina Faso’s cabinet issued a decree on Monday to create a Emergency Transition Socio-Economic Program worth 50 million U.S. dollars forthe benefit of women and youth.
?? The emergency program will focus on youth and women initiatives as well as the reinforcement of academic and health infrastructures.
?? The program will see creation of 10,000 economic units for the benefit of youth and women which are expected to generate 30,000 jobs. It will also improve academic standards by constructing 75 schools and completing university infrastructure, among them two amphitheaters in Bobo Dioulasso and Ouagadougou universities.
?? The program will also include improvement of the health situation through creation of 80 health centers.
?? Events of Oct. 30-31, 2014, that resulted into the end of 27 years reign of Blaise Compaore, were fuelled by, among other issues, youth unemployment, poor pay for women, lack of academic infrastructures and lack of student loans.? Enditem
