The 25th edition of the Pan-African Cinema and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), to be hold from February 25 to march 4, will be marked with major innovations to delight movie-lovers.
Burkina Faso’s minister of culture and tourism Tahirou Barry expressed this during press conference on Thursday in the capital Ouagadougou.
The innovations include international symposium under the theme “cinema and audiovisual professions and training”, movie screening at shopping streets in several neighborhoods of Ouagadougou and the establishment of eight digital theaters during the competition, Mr. Barry said.
He has ensured that every effort has been put into the organization in order to make a successful biennial cinema festival.
On security issues, Barry underscored that the government of Burkina Faso has taken necessary measures to ensure the safety of festival-goers, including setting up a stronger security system.
Furthermore, the participation of the national football team “Les Etalons” (The Stallions) to the 2017 edition of African cup of nations (Afcon) competition in Gabon has been raised during the press conference.
According to the minister for Sport, Tahirou Bangre, the Stallions receive technical and financial support from the government and the disposal of supporters to take part in the continental competition in order to support the national team.
It is worth recalling that Burkina Faso has experienced over the year 2016 a surge of insecurity and a harsh economic situation. Enditem
