Experts from the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) on Wednesday certified Burkina Faso’s electoral register which has over 5.5 million voters.
“Burkina Faso’s 2015 electoral register meets international standards. In this regard, it is a credible document that can be used for the presidential and legislative elections on Oct. 11, 2015,” head of OIF mission Gen. Siaka Sangare said after the audit of the said register.
The president of Burkina Faso’s National Independent Electoral Commission Me Barthelemy Kere expressed satisfaction with the results of the audit.
“They examined all aspects of the electoral register and concluded that it was credible and reliable. This assessment gives us satisfaction that quality work was done,” he said.
Burkina Faso will hold its presidential and legislative elections on Oct. 11 to restore constitutional order that was disrupted after the fall of Blaise Compaore’s regime in October last year. Enditem
