Burundi on Tuesday recorded eight new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the east African country to 27, a top official said.
Thaddee Ndikumana, health minister, said in a statement that out of a total of 158 people who were screened from May 5 to 8, eight turned out positive for COVID-19.
Ndikumana said the identification of all those who have been in contact with the eight new cases was continuing.
The minister urged the public to remain calm and follow the preventive measures against the disease. Enditem
