Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza Saturday sent condolences to families of victims of a terrorists attack on Friday night that left at least 26 dead in the province of Cibitoke, northwestern Burundi.
“We send condolences to the families of victims and we are committed to assisting survivals,” Nkurunziza on Twitter.
Nkurunziza called on all Burundian citizens to remain united. “Those who perpetrated the killings must be arrested and sanctioned according to the law,” he added.
Terrorists, who crossed the border from Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), attacked a Burundian village in Buganda district Friday night and killed 24 on the spot while 2 others died at the hospital.
Burundian Public Security and Disaster Management Minister Alain Guillaume Bunyoni said on Saturday the Burundian government is in touch with DRC leaders in order to plan a joint operation to fight against the terrorists. Enditem
