The latest victim is the former director of the Uganda Investment Authority Dr. Maggie Kigozi who was attacked by thugs at her home in Rubaga.

?We need protection so we can go ahead with business development which will in turn create more employment for young people who may be carrying out acts such as killing, robberies on business people because they have no employment,? said businessman Amos Nzeyi.

Uganda?s economy depends on the business and manufacturing sector which according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics contributed an estimated 23.9% to GDP, while industry contributed 26.1% and services 49.9% to GDP last year.

?If they can give us some security guidelines and even teach us how to protect ourselves in addition to offering us security, we shall feel protected and motivated to work harder because we are getting scared,? he added.

He made the appeal during a Pepsi board meeting of directors which was attended by Dr. Maggie Kigozi.

Dr. Kigozi said she was able to put up a fight which left her fingers cut, but these have been treated and she is recovering.

?The only challenge now is to learn to work with one hand as I wait for the other to heal but I am fine,? she said.
