Caf President Issa Hayatou Honoured In Ghana

CAF President Issa Hayatou has collected an honour in Ghana from one of the key football academies in the country, recognising his contribution to the sport.

The Polo Football Academy in Accra presented a traditional dress called ?fugu? to the African football chief in recognition of the key role he played in the setting up of the academy.

The academy, owned by Ghana football legend Mohammed Polo, received funding from the Issa Hayatou Foundation to enable it start its operations for needy but talented footballers.

Polo and some youngsters from the academy made the presentation at a brief ceremony in Accra on Wednesday attended by several executives of CAF and Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi.

?We made the presentation to Mr. Hayatou because has contributed immensely, through his foundation, for the setting up of the academy,? Polo said.

?For the past four years we have seen tremendous growth with many needy kids now getting the chance to get good training.

?Some have already started playing for youth clubs and it won?t be long before we will see them playing for Ghana thanks to the contribution of Mr. Hayatou.?

The Polo Football Academy started in Accra about four years ago and it boasts over hundred young footballers.
