Former Member of Parliament for Adentan, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has emphasized the necessity of transparent pricing and access to state lands for reinvestment amid growing concerns of corruption surrounding their sale.
Speaking on TV3’s Key Points, Asamoa advocated for a robust mechanism to ensure clear and fair market pricing, asserting that transparent practices would facilitate economic growth and job creation.
Echoing similar sentiments, the spokesperson for independent presidential aspirant Alan Kyerematen highlighted the rampant politicization and alleged underpricing of state lands, labelling it a significant source of corruption.
Meanwhile, North Tongu lawmaker Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa accused the Lands Commission of complicity in facilitating dubious land transactions.
Despite the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources’ refutations, Ablakwa remained vocal about his concerns, citing alleged sales of properties belonging to government institutions.
In a press statement, the Ministry clarified that any controversial land transactions occurred during the previous administration, countering Ablakwa’s assertions of current government involvement.
The Ministry affirmed President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to upholding integrity in land administration, pledging to maintain transparency and accountability in all future dealings.
The ongoing debate underscores the need for stringent oversight and transparency in managing state lands amidst allegations of political interference and corruption.
