Gen. Chantharith said the police arrested a 33-year-old male suspect, whose shirt was stained with blood, and seized a pistol.

“The suspect confessed to the crime, saying that he got furious with Kem Ley, who owed him 3,000 U.S. dollars, but did not repay him,” Chantharith said.

“We do not believe his confession yet, as an investigation is still going on.”

Kem Ley was attacked in a mini-shop near the gas station where he was having a coffee.

Police said the victim suffered two or three shots on the back of his head at point-blank range and died on the spot. Enditem
