Cameroonian security services pursuing three suspected terrorists

Cameroonian security forces are pursuing three young females suspected to be members of the Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram, who were cited on Thursday in Maroua, the main town in Cameroon's Far North region, a security source has said.


The security forces suspect the three are planing to commit crimes in the region.

map of cameroonAn alarm was raised following reports of the entry of these three suspected suicide bombers to the region that is dominated by Muslims, the source said.

Schools in the specific areas where the suspects were cited have been closed to avert any other tragedy for the population in Maroua who suffered three suicide attacks in July.

The two first suicide attacks, carried out on July 22 by two adolescents aged between 14 and 15, left 20 people dead and about 30 injured, while the third one left 25 people dead and 67 others injured.

Since the first suicide attack on Cameroonian soil on July 13 in Fotokol, a locality near the Nigerian border, there have been 15 suicide attacks in the country.

No one claimed responsibility for these attacks, but Cameroonian authorities have been pointing fingers at the Nigerian terrorist group, Boko Haram. Enditem
