Cape Verde's Economy and Labour Minister Jose Goncalves is set to participate in a meeting of coordinators following up on the recommendations that were made during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation that was held last year in Johannesburg.

A ministerial statement released on Tuesday said the meeting will be held in Beijing on July 28.

During his visit to China, the minister will hold talks with China’s Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Yan, with whom he will discuss promotion of economic cooperation with China, especially to attract Chinese investments in the tourism sector, maritime economy, energy and air transport.

According to the statement, Goncalves is also expected to discuss with his Chinese counterpart cooperation in ICT and public security and seek to get Chinese government support in execution of the Safe City project that aims to set up surveillance cameras in major urban centers as well as two of Cape Verde’s main tourist islands, Sal and Boa Vista.

The economy and labour minister will equally use the opportunity to reaffirm the excellence of existing relations between Cape Verde and China.

These relations, the statement said, have seen the completion of major infrastructure projects on the island nation, training of human resources and aid in various sectors. Enditem
