The maiden edition of the Ghana CFO Awards held at Movenpick Hotel, was organised to recognise and reward CFOs who performed extraordinarily well in 2014.
It attracted CFOs from different industries across Ghana including Banking, Insurance, Automobile and Consumer Goods.
Speaking at the event, the Group CEO of InstinctWave and convener of the Award, Mr Akin Naphtal, said “Ghana’s financial sector has undergone significant changes in recent years and this ceremony is aimed at celebrating the positive impact of financial executives to the growth and sustenance of their organisations.”
According to Naphtal, the importance of the finance industry in Ghana cannot be overemphasised, considering the fact that it is the sector that drives many other sectors of the economy.
Mr Kadri, who is barely two years in MTN Ghana, expressed excitement to the organisers of the Awards for the recognition.
He said: “I feel humbled by this award and wish to dedicate it to MTN Ghana, especially the Finance team.
“This feat would not have been possible but for the support I get from the Finance team and everybody.”
Kadri joined MTN Ghana from MTN Nigeria where he spent most of his seven-year career as General Manager of Financial Operations, advising on business operations.
Kadri’s leadership and superior skills in directing the financial operations of MTN Ghana are evidenced by the sustained growth of the company in a difficult economic environment.
Under his direction, MTN Ghana was awarded Overall Best Taxpayer for 2014 by the Ghana Revenue Authority, with a citation that stated in part: “Your contribution towards tax payment has been tremendous, especially in 2014.
“You were not only the biggest contributor to our tax revenue, but you were the most compliant in filing of returns and making payments by statutory due dates. We are happy doing business with you.”
The Ghana CFO Awards is an annual event organised by InstinctWave to recognise the accomplishments of not only CFO and their teams, but also firms and individuals that have contributed immensely to the financial sector.
According to the organisers, Ghana is the third country in Africa, after South Africa and Nigeria, to honour financial executives.
Earlier in the year, MTN received various awards including, the Best Customer Service Company of the Year, Best Mobile Money Service of the Year, Best Cloud Service Provider of the Year and the Overall Best Telecom Company of the Year.
In addition, MTN won the Best HR Organisation Company of the Year at the recent HR Focus Awards.
