Charles Taylor has reacted angrily to reports he intends to quit football

Berekum Chelsea winger Charles Taylor has described as ?malicious and wicked? attempts by some journalists to retire him prematurely from the game.

The 31-year-old is currently sidelined through a problematic left knee injury which has hampered his first team at the 2010 Ghanaian champions.

Media reports had claimed on Monday that the Berekum Chelsea player was considering hanging up his boots due to recurring  injuries.

But the former Hearts and Asante Kotoko talisman has angrily reacted to the reports and says such attempts are wicked and unfortunate.

He told Accra-based Happy FM: ?I don?t know why any journalist for that matter will go ahead and write such things about me without consulting me first,?

?At least the person could have contacted me or my club to find out if it was true or not,?

?But to put such a story out there smacks of wickedness and I think such unprofessional journalistic practices must stop,?

?I am nursing an injury and getting better and so in due time I will return to the pitch,?

?Everything happens for a reason and so I expect the people plotting  my premature retirement from football to stop because it is not going to help anybody.?

Taylor was touted as one of the gifted players to have emerged from the local scene but the recurrent injuries has taken a toll on what was supposed to be a promising career.

He played an influential role for Hearts in their Caf Champions League triumph in 2000.
