It’s not officially confirmed yet, but that now truly is just a matter of time, as reports out of France this evening bring tidings of a “total agreement” between Olympique Lyonnais and Chelsea for the transfer of Bertrand Traore.
Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas spoke earlier this week about his hopes of finalizing the transfer for the 21-year-old forward this week or, at worst, in the following ten days, and it sounds like they have delivered on that plan.
We don’t know the exact details of the agreement or what clauses may or may not be included, but hopefully all that will leak out to the press in due time. With Chelsea’s initial asking price rumored around €20m and the deal finalizing around €19m, perhaps we settled for what is a relatively low price in today’s market in exchange for future considerations like a buy-back or first-option clause.
Lyon are also rumored to be in the running for a Zouma loan, so this may not be the last bit of business Chelsea conduct with them this summer.
