Chelsea's Champions League exit bitter pill to swallow - Joe Addo

Disheartened Berekum Chelsea team

Berekum Chelsea official Joe Addo has described the side?s exit from the Caf Champions League as a ?bitter pill to swallow?.

The dethroned Ghana Premier League champions were unable to make the last four in their maiden campaign in Africa after raising expectations with an explosive start.

The Blues were however unable to sustain their good start especially in the two-legs against Al Ahly and had to bow out even before the final round of Group A matches are cleared.

And International Relations Manager Joe Addo admits Chelsea?s exit from the continental showpiece is a hard one to take but draws some positives from the experience gathered.

?It was very disheartening, we had our destiny in our hands but we couldn?t make it and it is always difficult to let someone do your work for you,? he told Accra-based Radio XYZ.

?We had the opportunity to go through but it didn?t happen and that is what is disheartening, it is a bitter pill to swallow.

?We however take on board the experience and I am sure if we do our homework well, and we have everything in place am sure we?ll do better next time.?

The Chelsea team will arrive in Ghana on Monday to begin preparations for their meaningless final group game against TP Mazembe.
