Mr. Justice Maxwell Acquah, (Chairman Basty), the General Manager of Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited, has been commended for his sterling leadership that is transforming the wholly Ghanaian owned Mine.
Nana Nteboa Pra IV, the Divisional Chief of Prestea-Himan Traditional Area in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality of the Western Region, said Mr. Acquah’s leadership had brought tremendous changes to the company and the community at large.
Nana Pra IV gave the commendation when Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia visited the area as part of his campaign tour to the Western Region recently.
The Sankofa Gold Limited is a fully owned Ghanaian gold mining company.
The Chief said, “ this Youngman is ready to turn around things in the company and I am pleading with the government, to give acres of land to the company to Mine for development to thrive in this area.”
“For now, Sankofa could not boast of any concession to Mine, a critical subject for government to pay attention to enhance royalty, create job opportunity for the youth, contribute to revenue, infrastructure development, and technological advancement,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia, who is also the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, noted how the Manager of the Sankofa Mine had been instrumental in the development of the Mine and Prestea township.
“We will give him all the necessary support to develop the Mine. In fact, it is in our supreme interest to support Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited to obtain its own concession,” the Vice President said.
