Nana Kwei Ababio XIII, Chief of Gomoa Kweikrom and Oseawuohene of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council, has appealed to political parties to conduct decent campaign devoid of insults, acrimony and the use of abusive language.

He said it would be bad for the nation to plunge into chaos and anarchy as result of elections as had happened in other neighbouring countries.

Nana Ababio made this known when he addressed his sub-chiefs and the entire people of Gomoa Kweikrom to climax their Annual Akwambo Festival on Saturday.

The festival also coincided with the commemoration of the 30th Anniversary celebration of Nana Ababio‘s enstoolment as the Chief of Kweikrom.

He said the country needed peace to deepen its democratic dispensation to enhance total development.

The chief called on the youth not to allow themselves to be induced with money and hard drugs to create violence during and after the elections.

Nana Ababio appealed to the government to reconstruct the road linking the town to Winneba and Senya Beraku to facilitate movement of goods and services.

He called on the Gomoa East Assembly to provide the town with modern toilet facility to ensure sound environment.

Mr Alex Boakye, Central Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourist Board, asked the chiefs and people of Kweikrom to adopt an effective strategic plan that would promote tourism in the area.

He said the vast fallow land owned by the people of the town could be documented well to attract investors, especially in the hospitality industry.

Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II, Paramount Chief Akyempim Traditional Area, called for cooperation and mutual understanding among the citizenry to promote peace and development.

He asked the people to throw their weight behind their chief and eschew any acts that could fan chieftaincy dispute, adding that dispute retarded progress and development.

Obirifo Ankobea assured them that the Traditional Council was ever prepared to assist the Gomoa East Assembly to undertake any development in areas such as education, health and sanitation. GNA
