Togbega Gabusu VI, the Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area, on Tuesday, said the government was on track in executing its ?Better Ghana Agenda? and urged it to remain focused.wpid-ghana20flag.jpg

He observed that irrespective of the energy challenges, the Government continued to provide social amenities and improved infrastructure across the country, therefore, it must not be distracted by ?negative? and unhelpful criticisms.

Togbega Gabusu said this when Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, a Deputy Local Government Minister, and Madam Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Volta Regional Minister paid a courtesy call on him to officially invite him and his subjects to participate in the fourth National Sanitation Day to be hosted by the Volta Region in Ho, on Saturday, March 7.

He said the institution of a National Sanitation Day by the Government was another indication that the country was ?moving in the right direction? to improve the health of the people and gave the assurance that his traditional area would fully participate in the event.

Togbega Gabusu advised that the exercise be made competitive for all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies so it could achieve the expected goal of promoting clean environment in the country.

Mr Agyekum commended the Region with the Hohoe Municipal area for being clean and said awards would soon be introduced to make the exercise competitive.

He expressed the hope that the award system would enhance the effectiveness of the campaign and move Ghana up to the best three clean countries in the world from being among the last 10.

Mr Agyekum, at staff durbars for Local Government workers in the northern part of the Region, asked them to be creative, professional, and change agents.

He inspected projects in the district capitals and urged the Assemblies to prioritise sanitation issues.

The Government has set aside the first Saturday of every month for a nationwide Clean up exercise.
