“Prime Minister Oli’s visit has been highly successful in terms of promoting our age-old friendly relationship. With these agreements, the China-Nepal relations have reached a new height,” said former Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, who is also a leader of the ruling CPN-UML, during a function in Kathmandu.

“Now the time has come for the Chinese and Nepalese side to work closely to implement these deals.”

Former Foreign Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat said that the understandings to have transit treaty and free trade area between Nepal and China were among major achievements of Oli’s visit to China.

“These understandings and agreement are positive achievements for Nepal. We should put our efforts toward implementation now,”said Dr. Mahat said, who is also a leader of main opposition party Nepali Congress.

Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, who is also the leader of CPN-UML, said that the government has given priority to strengthen relationship with neighboring countries such as China and India.

Former Foreign Minister Dr. Bhekh Bahadur Thapa said Oli’s recent visits to China and India have helped strengthen the country’s relations with them.

On the occasion, Nepal’s former ambassador to China, Tanka Karki, said that the transit agreement with China would provide an option for Nepal to have access to sea to do trade with other countries.

“The prime minister’s visit to China has been historically successful and the deals are significant for Nepal’s long-term socio-economic development,” he said. Enditem
