Belt and Road

China continues to be Africa’s trustworthy partner on the basis of win-win cooperation towards realizing common development agenda, said Chen Ning, Counselor, Cooperation and Exchange Office, at the Chinese Mission to the African Union (AU).

China will work closely with the AU and African countries, strengthening the coordination between China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Africa’s Agenda 2063, linking their dreams together, noted Chen.

The diplomat made the remarks on Thursday during an inaugural ceremony of a smart health system project donated by China’s giant telecom company, ZTE, to the AU Commission at the headquarters of the pan-African bloc in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa.

Chen noted that China strongly supports Africa’s health sector, for which he mentioned the support provided to the Africa Center for Disease Control (Africa CDC).

In the past couple of years, China has provided capacity building support to Africa in the areas including, public health, agriculture, infrastructure, and industrial development among others, said the diplomat.

“China also provided dozens of scholarships of bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degrees to AU in different fields. We will continue to enlarge our program on capacity building for AU in coming years,” said the diplomat.

He also said that China and the AU would hold a working meeting next week in order to promote the Regional Infrastructure Construction Cooperation in Africa.

“The Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China is famous and popular now. It is moving forward at full sail, with the support and cooperation from countries and organizations all over the world, including AU and African countries,” he said.

“Looking ahead, China will work closely with AU and African countries, strengthening the coordination between the Belt and Road Initiative and Agenda 2063, linking the Africa dream and the China’s dream together,” he added. Enditem
