An agreement for the reception of this infrastructure that cost over 17 million U.S. dollars, was signed on Wednesday in Nouakchott by Mauritania’s Health Minister Kane Boubacar and China’s ambassador to Mauritania Wu Dong.
The new hospital is a two-storey building, equipped with the most modern equipments with a capacity of 150 beds.
It will have specialist doctors in various fields, and an independent tent for contagious diseases as well as an oxygen center that will supply other hospitals in the region.
Speaking during the reception ceremony, Mauritania’s health minister said the construction of the hospital in Kiffa region conforms to the government’s desire to ensure health services reach every citizen.
The minister further thanked the Chinese diplomat for his collaboration as well as support for Mauritania’s development efforts.
On his part, the Chinese ambassador hailed the close friendship between his country and Mauritania which led to the construction of the hospital.”
“Such an achievement will help to extend health coverage and will reinforce the presence of medical teams that China has always sent to Mauritania since 1960s,” he concluded. Enditem
