Chinese citizens in Afghanistan have been urged to leave the country as soon as possible, according to official media reports on Sunday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and China’s embassy in Kabul issued the call to evacuate in response to the frequency of terrorist attacks in the country, according to Communist Party-owned newspaper The Beijing News.

Citizens and organisations in Afghanistan have been encouraged to “strengthen emergency response preparations” and leave the country promptly aboard international commercial flights.

Since the beginning of the official withdrawal of international troops from Afghanistan, there has been a number of attacks and more and more districts have fallen to the Islamist Taliban.
