China Harbour Engineering Company on Friday handed over the second consignment of basic food commodities to Khomas region governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua to benefit the poor in Namibia.
The company’s Namibia managing director, Zhang Bing, said the donation of 1,000 parcels of basic commodities from the Chinese business community in Namibia represented their appreciation of the friendship between the two countries and a display of their moral support for the vulnerable in difficult times.
“I have worked in Namibia for more than six years and the two countries enjoy brotherly relations,” Zhang said.
“This donation is a sign that the the pandemic has no borders and affect everyone,” he said, referring to the COVID-19 outbreak.
McLeod-Katjirua, for her part, said the donation from China Harbour Engineering Company will go a long way in supporting the poor.
“Allow me to thank the donors of this consignment as it will assist those in need,” she said. Enditem
