Africa-China

The Chinese embassy in The Gambia has donated two skip trucks, two pickup trucks and one SUV to Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) in The Gambia to boost its service delivery.

“The donation of the vehicles was intended to assist KMC in strengthening its capacity in emergency response and in providing quality services to Kanifing residents, and to complement the efforts by the Council and the Kanifing people in creating better urban environment,” Ambassador Ma Jianchun said at the handing over ceremony Thursday.

The Lord Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council Talib Ahmed Bensouda appreciated the donation which comes through cordial China-Gambia friendship.

“Several staff of KMC had just been to China for development-themed training and they kept sharing what they have learned in China with their colleagues of the Council,” the mayor continued.

Bensouda assured that the Council would make full use of the vehicles to provide better services for the Kanifing people and further promote the development of the city.

The relationship between the two countries has been mucordial with the West African country benefiting from several infrastructure projects, training and scholarship packages. Enditem
