A Chinese Enterprise has pledged to support various sports disciplines in Zambia on Copperbelt province as a way of giving back to the community.
China Non-ferrous Metals Company Luanshya Copper Mine (CLM) spokesperson Sydney Chileya said the company is committed to promoting sports in the Copperbelt province as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Speaking in an interview with Xinhua, Chileya said apart from just sponsoring Roan United Football club, the company was highly ambitious to start sponsoring other sporting activities as one way of contributing to the well-being of the people of Luanshya and the Copperbelt province as a whole.
“We have plans to start sponsoring various sports disciplines in schools as you may be aware Copperbelt province was once a major sport region in Zambia, so we want to revive various sports to bring it back to its hey days,” he said.
Chileya said the company was not just interested in making profits but was making serious efforts to help improve the living standards of Zambians.
Abel Nyendwa. a local resident, commended the Chinese enterprise for its commitment towards social corporate responsibility.
“The company is not only sponsoring sports, but farmers have also been supported with fertilizers and other farm input, this is actually commendable,” he said. Enditem
