A Chinese enterprise Avic International has completed construction of about 40-km stretch of the road network in Zambia’s Chingola district on the Copperbelt province and started handing over the roads to the local authority, an official said on Wednesday.

Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo said so far the company has handed over some of the completed roads which he described as of right quality and standard.

He said with the rehabilitation of the road network, Chingola is now on the right path to gain its status as a city in Zambia.

“The Chinese contractor has started handing over roads after it completed the works on the 40 kilometer stretch of road network, we are happy with the kind of works that had been done on our roads,” he said.

Tembo said in an interview with Xinhua that roads have come with good drainages and walk ways.

“Chingola was once a clean town and it is slowly regaining its lost status as the cleanest town in Zambia,” he said. Enditem
