Chinese firm hands over boreholes to 2 villages in Zambia

Repaired borehole

A Chinese construction company AVIC international handed over two boreholes to Kampekete and Sheleni villages in Chongwe, a town in Lusaka province of Zambia on Tuesday.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Chongwe executive mayor Geoffrey Chumbwe thanked the company for the donation. He described the company as a true partner in the social and economic development of Zambia.

According to him, the Chinese company had shown that it was willing to go beyond the business partnership and was ready to meet its social corporate responsibility.

“The Chinese company which was just finalizing a 6.4 km road project in the district has shown its resolve to plough back to the community. The gesture is timely as it comes at a time when the district needed such interventions, ” Chumbwe said.

Chongwe central ward councillor Juvenalis Mulimbika who received one of the boreholes on behalf of the residents of Sheleni village in Chongwe central ward, expressed his gratitude for the donation. Enditem
