The delegation is comprised of members of Fujian government and private investors.
“The objective of its visit is to study with Guinea Bissau authorities concerning Chinese investments in the fisheries sector, especially construction of a fisheries complex in Prabis,” a statement from Shihai-Bissau company said Monday.
The future fisheries complex which will have a freezing facility, will require an investment of 50 million U.S. dollars, contributed by Fujian Shihai in partnership with Shihai-Bissau.
The confirmation of the construction of the plant was made by a delegation of Chinese businessmen from Fujian province, who arrived in Bissau on Saturday for a prospection visit in the country’s fisheries sector. They confirmed the project will create about 3,000 jobs.
“We are very happy with this investment in the region because it will considerably help to reduce unemployment,” a resident of Prabis who spoke to Xinhua said.
The region’s governor equally promised to facilitate and protect investments in the region. Enditem
