The Chinese mission to the African Union (AU) and the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia on Friday jointly hosted a reception marking the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia.
The reception, hosted by Sr. Colonel Chen Yong, Defense Advisor of the Chinese mission to AU, and Sr. Colonel Zhao Bao, Defense Attaché to Ethiopia, was attended by more than 400 people, including senior officials of Ethiopia and AU as well as diplomats of China and other countries, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Cheng Yong highlighted the achievements that the PLA has achieved in its self-development over the past 9 decades and introduced the progress and goals of the ongoing reform in China’s national defense and armed forces.
He also highly commended the important role that the AU and Ethiopia have played in maintaining regional peace, and reiterated China’s commitment to working with the AU and Ethiopia and all other African countries to promote peace and create prosperity in Africa.
The reception featured a photo gallery tracing the 9-decade journey of the PLA, and also screened an introductory film of the PLA today. Enditem
