The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) is to hold its silver jubilee edition of the CIMG Awards, on

, 2014 in Accra.

The ceremony which is on the theme ?Twenty Five Years of Promoting Corporate Excellence: the Impact of CIMG Marketing Performance Awards? seeks to reward 31 corporate entities and individuals who have distinguish themselves in their operations.

The awards would cover six major areas such as personalities, CIMG Hall of Fame, Media Organization/MARCOMMS, Not-for-Profit organizations and Business Organizations and Products.

Dr Shola Safo-Duodu, CIMG National President, said in an address at the launch in Accra said the Award would be innovated so as to make it relevant as a catalyst for personal, professional and national development.

She said the CIMG, with the co-operation of the public including the media and their stakeholders would work towards maintaining a reputable awards scheme.

?Today, there is plurality of awards with its attendant negative and positive developments. While we appreciate the fact that there must be recognition of excellence, it is our hope that the surge in awards schemes will rather engender healthy competition and impact positively on society and contribute to the use of data and baseline studies,? she said.

Mr Kojo Mattah, CIMG Vice President, said the Awards Scheme in its 25 years of existence had proved consistently to one of the best in the country with national and international recognition.

He said for the past 25 years, the scheme has grown to a pedestal that made it a must win corporate and personal award that corporate Ghana and individuals looked forward to each year.

He said apart from the prestige and media hype that go along with winning the awards, the scheme had become a veritable tool for benchmarking corporate and individual marketing performance on yearly basis.

Mr Mattah said the Award scheme had aided had proved to be a strong catalyst in promoting corporate excellence among organizations and at the same time helping in the development of individual professional capacities.

He said CIMG would continue to uphold the image of the awards scheme and improve on all facets of its organization so as to continue to make it an award of choice.

He said reputable research organizations such as AC Nielsen and Ipsos Ghana would join CIMG in order to carry out the short-listing of entries and the interviewing of nominees where necessary.

Mr Mattah said the overall criteria for the selection process included visibility and innovation, corporate social responsibility and financials.
