A civic leader in Zambia’s Chongwe district in Lusaka Province on Friday commended the government for awarding China’s Avic International a contract to build 150 houses for police officers.

Chongwe deputy mayor Evans M’hambi said awarding of the contract to AVIC international was a good choice, which has proved to be a reliable contractor.

He said in an interview that the project would commence as soon as suitable land was allocated.

The civic leader observed that the construction of 150 housing units for police officers will go a long way in addressing the challenge of houses for the officers.

According to him, the houses would also improve the staffing levels in the police stations in the district Chongwe and boost the morale of the officers. Enditem
