Chinese enterprises investing in a multi facility economic zone in Zambia’s Chambishi have create jobs for the local people which has resulted in an improvement in their living standard, a civic leader said on Tuesday.
Rashid Mulenga, Mayor of Kalulushi town on the Copperbelt Province, said the Chambishi multifacility economic zone operated by Zambia China Economic and Trade Cooperation was supplementing the government’s efforts in job creation.
“We are happy that more jobs are being created by Chinese enterprises, we looking forward for more investments from China,” she said in interview.
She said Zambia and China enjoys cordial bilateral relations which should be strengthened further for increased trade between the two countries.
Rashid expressed happiness that the establishment of the multi facility economic zone is as a result of the Chinese government’s support.
And John Phiri, a lcoal employee is happy after being employed by a Chinese enterprise.
“I am happy to have find a job at Shacman,(Shaanxi Automobile) hope to put in my best and learn from the Chinese people,” he said.
Phiri said government should continue to nurture its friendship with China for the betterment of people’s lives.
“We have seen how China’s economy has grown so fast, we looking forward to seeing Zambia continue to cement its long time good relations,” he said.
He called on Chinese enterprises not to relent in establishing new investments in various economic sectors in Zambia as a way of showing its commitment to assisting Zambia and Africa as a whole. Enditem
