CJN Cannot Be Uprooted by Force

President Muhammadu Buhari has been stopped from removing the estranged Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen.

According to a Federal High Court in Abuja in Monday, 21 January, Buhari and ‘others’ can not continue with their plan.

Daily Trust reports that Justice Inyang Ekwo ordered the parties to maintain status quo over the moves to remove the CJN.

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN) had on Friday filed an application asking the court to order Justice Onnoghen to step aside as the CJN and the chairman of the National Judicial Council and hand over to the next senior judge to avoid creating a vacuum.
