Some members of the Clergy have condemned what they describe affluent lifestyle among some in recent times to the detriment of their congregation.

The worry was expressed by the General Overseer of the Christian Fire Revival Ministry at Gomoa Beseadze, Prophet David Kingsley Agyapopng, the Founder of Agyenkwa Healing Church at Gomoa Osamkrom, Apostle Kofi Nyamekye as well as the founder of the House of Judah Int. Ministries at Gomoa Achias, Prophet Bright Addoboah in separate interviews with newsghana over the weekend.

Their concern follows recent debate among members of the public that Churches should be taxed because, according to them, some pastor are operating their Churches as a business venture, charging huge sums of money as consultation fees and selling all manner of items including anointing oil for exorbitant prices.
The critics are of the view that such pastors are milking members of the unsuspecting public, without contributing anything to society, and as such there is the need for them to be made to pay tax for the development of the country.

But Rev. Agyapong, Apostle Nyamekye and Prophet Addoboah noted that calling for churches to pay tax is an unwelcome idea as most of them are operating purely as a charity organization, providing for both the spiritual and physical need of not only their members, but the society at large.

They have however advised other pastors to learn to see to the physical need of their members as well, rather than riding in luxuries cars and building mansions to the detriment of the need of their members.
