CLOGSAG Strike Disrupts Business Registrations in Accra

An industrial action by members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association Ghana (CLOGSAG) has severely impacted business registrations and renewals at the Registrar General’s Department in Accra, leaving numerous applicants stranded and frustrated.

The strike, precipitated by the association’s dissatisfaction with the government’s delay in implementing a proposed new salary structure, has halted essential services for businesses seeking registration and renewal processes.

Affected applicants expressed dismay over the disruption, recounting their unsuccessful attempts to complete necessary filings amid the strike.

“I’ve been here for more than 30 minutes now. I came yesterday to file our annual registration but encountered issues and had to return today,” shared one applicant with Channel One News. “When I arrived this morning, I found out about the strike due to unresolved pension issues with RSGs and other Ministries. We are all wondering why this situation persists.”

Another frustrated applicant said, “They’ve been negotiating for about two years now, trying to resolve these issues, but the government hasn’t acted. We urge the government to intervene and expedite the resolution to resume business operations.”

The Registrar General’s Department, a critical entity for business formalities, remains affected by the ongoing strike. This underscores the urgency of swift resolution between CLOGSAG and the government.

The disruption highlights broader implications for business activities and underscores the need for prompt governmental action to mitigate further impact on economic operations.
