Nigeria Premier League (NPL) club chairmen and managers have expressed delight with the performances of the four teams representing the country in the CAF continental championships for their excellent results at the weekend.
Glo League champions ?Kano Pillars and Warri Wolves secured vital away victories, while two-time CAF Champions League winners, Enyimba, got the maximum points and goals at home, with Dolphins in a narrow 0-1 away loss.
The club owners, in a statement signed by the Acting Chairman, Barr. Isaac Danladi, and the Ag. Secretary, Alloy Chukwuemeka, congratulated the clubs for their victories and charged them to redouble their efforts and not be carried away by their present results.
Meanwhile, in another development the club owners have welcomed one of its former frontline members, Tony Ogola, of the defunct Ocean Boys FC, as the new chairman of Bayelsa United.
The association described Ogola as a tested and trusted hand who will bring his wealth of experience not only as a football administrator, but also as a former local government chairman.
They specifically thanked the out-going Bayelsa United boss Odogu Akpofini for his contributions to the association, describing him as a loyal and easy going gentleman.
Akpofini urged stakeholders to give support to the new boss in the true spirit of sportsmanship.
