Botswana’s coal startup business Masama Coal Mine has announced intentions to ramp up its production.
Minergy, the operator of Masama Coal Mine on Friday released its latest market update for the six months ending 31st December 2020, indicating the company’s appetite to increase production.
“Several opportunities to significantly increase production are currently being assessed. Depending on the economics at the time, Minergy’s objective is to double production capacity through a Phase two project, which would enable it to access a range of opportunities,” said Morne du Plessis, Chief Executive Officer of Minergy.
He said the company’s intended increase will be supplied to industrial customers and export opportunities.
The company has also highlighted that the ever-changing COVID-19 restrictions continue to impact the business.
Masama Coal mine started mining and producing coal for export to South Africa and Namibia in 2019. Enditem
